I'm sick of hearing ignorant people and the media blaming the video games for the violence in the world. Seriously, just because I like playing GTA that doesn't mean I like to steal cars and commit random acts of violence. Just because i like FPS games that doesn't mean I'll start shooting everyone in sight in schools or malls

I agree. I'd never do anything violent unless it was self-defense.

And the people idiotic enough to get influenced by these shouldn't be playing at all.

The violent videogames decrease my anger, and violent ideas, WITHOUT harming a living creature. If someone makes me mad, I play COD, or GTA, or MK. Boom Stress relieved.

Amazing stamp, I hate it when news agencies, "researchers" etc. try to turn everything that's fun into a scapegoat. Especially blaming games for causing school shootings is pure mass-cooptation shit!

I play Grand Theft Auto to vent my anger.

If anything, it keeps me from being a violent person

No, seriously. I don't understand this logic at all.

Yeah, it's the same for me. Videogames are good for stress-relief.

Violent video games only make the world a less painful place to live in.

I couldn't agree with you more. It annoys me to no end to hear people blame video games for what's wrong with society. I'm totally using this stamp
Kirokami Featured By Owner Jun 5, 2013  Hobbyist Artist
I totally agree with this, it makes me so frustrated that people think this.. -_- I too play games, as well as some violent games such as GTA, Halo, Cod, etc. and i'm definitely not violent! This is definetly going in my favs ^^ :iconbravoplz:

Honestly, I get sick and tired of the media deciding that FPS games are evil and improve your shooting skills.

Give a Call of Duty fanboy a gun and see if he even can even figure out how to switch the safety off.
kayanne21 Featured By Owner Mar 15, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
I can never EVER understand this logic. Ok, I'll admit that playing violent video games over and over might make you a little desensitised to violence, but at the end of the day, there's a huge fucking difference between going out and killing someone, and pressing a button.
ExoticJackal Featured By Owner Mar 12, 2013  Hobbyist
Violent video games stop me from being a violent person. :meow: I can just imagine the person being beaten/killed is the people I actually desire to harm.
carapau Featured By Owner Mar 12, 2013  Hobbyist Digital Artist
And it can be a great stress relief too, right?

A'men, stupid arseholes, studies even show there is know link between violence and video games. No one wants to point at the real problem, i.e. prescription drugs, or certain kinds anyways

strongly agree, i'm a quiet, nice and honest person, and i play violent video games( Halo, Call of Duty, The Darkness 2, etc.), my parents also blame video games about kids being violent, but i convinced them about it's not the game that makes kids or people in general violent, it's the person them self if they have anger issues or something...but yeah, i love playing violent video games because i can get to do whatever i want that i can't do in real life, which i would never do
suqarbunny Featured By Owner Jun 3, 2014
I have anger issues and I'm not violent towards living things.
Maybe on games, but never on people.

i told it to my momma - 'you're grounded' she replied 'no games to the next monday'.
MOTHERS. never understand.

btw, awesome stamp :D

I find it laughable when people try to blame a FPS for mass shootings. Using a thumb stick to control a gun which is essentially weightless and fires bullets which are not affected by wind or distance is a lot different than firing a real gun, where actually physics are involved. Sure, in Call of Duty I can use a Colt 1911 to take out a Nazi at 500 yards, but in real life, I'd be lucky to take out said Nazi from 50 feet using a real Colt 1911.
QuantumInnovator Featured By Owner Aug 7, 2012
Good point. If you really want to be a good shot, you need to get practice shooting the real thing.

I've fired BBs at stationary targets, and it takes me at least 10 seconds to aim the gun, and I can only hit about half the targets, if I'm lucky. I shake so much, that I can have the target dead center and still miss.

I also recently tried a "shooting simulator" where I fired a light gun at a display projected on the wall. The targets were orange clay discs, two of them were fired at once in opposite directions. You got two shots, one for each disc. I only hit both discs in one instance. Most of the time, I focused on one clay disc and stuck with it. Out of 50 clay targets, I only hit 16. That's 32%, pitifully inadequate. Because of this, I never want a gun.

Also, people need to learn to take responsibility for their actions, and you're not helping them do that by blaming video games instead of blaming the person who pulled the trigger.

After all which video game was to blame for all the violence in the world say at the start WWI? Oh right, they weren't invented yet...
DarthSithari Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2012
Well to fair, people can and are that stupid. So most likly they'd blame cops and robbers... even though I don't think that game exisited in Europe at the time.
vadess40 Featured By Owner Jan 17, 2012  Student Writer
Yeah. It's always somebody something else's fault...

If you enjoy Halo and Call Of Duty, but not Grand Theft Auto, it means you have a good moral compass.

Here's something I created that you might enjoy.

If it's not video games it's movies. If it's not movies it's comic books. If it's not comic books it's penny shows. It's only a matter of time before Dennis the Menace is blamed for societies woes.
carapau Featured By Owner Oct 19, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Yeah, they all need to have something to put the blame on.
crimsonsaphire Featured By Owner Aug 26, 2011
I agree. It is the parents fault that the kids play violent video games now, especially since there is even parental block and ratings on it.
carapau Featured By Owner Aug 27, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Although we have to admit that control all that is not easy, specially for "technologically challenged" parents.
crimsonsaphire Featured By Owner Aug 27, 2011
It may not be easy but its better then doing nothing
